INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURE

Introduction to Architecture Summer Course (Ages 13–16)

Discover Architecture Before Making Future Choices

Designed for students with an interest in art, design, creativity, engineering, and the built environment, this hands-on course provides an engaging introduction to architecture through sketching, photography, model-making, design challenges, and creative problem-solving.

Delivered by an experienced ARB-registered architect and the founder of KidsArtRoom™, a highly experienced tutor and CIPD Associate, the course develops creativity, confidence, spatial awareness, and design-thinking skills.

Why This Course Matters:

Architecture schools and apprenticeship employers increasingly look for evidence of creative potential, critical thinking, visual communication skills, and genuine interest in the subject. Early exposure to architecture helps students explore future pathways while beginning to build the foundations of a creative portfolio.

What Students Will Do:

• Explore architecture through sketching, photography, and observation
• Investigate inspiring buildings and architectural ideas
• Develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Learn model-making and visual communication techniques
• Create and present their own architectural design project

By the end of the course, students will have completed an architectural project and developed creative work that can contribute to a future portfolio, supporting later applications to architecture degree programmes and apprenticeships.

*All materials are included.*
